New Townships-based career opportunity app launched
SHERBROOKE, June 15, 2017 – A new Eastern Townships-based app is giving English-speakers in the region access local career opportunities that place a value on their language skills.
Launched by Townshippers’ Association at their Annual General Meeting on June 9 in Orford, the Topportunity Mobile application provides direct access to local job postings that require English language skills as part of an applicant’s skill set.
Sorted by category with regular updates, the job bank is a feature of the Association’s Topportunity website, www.topportunity.ca, which includes listings for full-time, part-time and student jobs. Push notifications for new job postings will ensure users never miss an opportunity for success in the Townships.
The app also features information on when the Association is accepting applications for student bursaries in the health care and social services sector. Administered by Townshippers’ in the Estrie and Montérégie-East, the McGill Health and Social Services Community Leadership Bursary Program is helping to address the need for health professionals with English and French language skills. To date, approximately $180,000 has been awarded through 29 bursaries helping students to pursue careers in the region as nurses, technicians, social workers, psychologists, nutritionists and more.
Businesses looking to fill a job posting are invited to contact Townshippers’ Association’s Make Way for YOUth Estrie Migration Agent at 819-566-5717 or [email protected]
