About Townshippers: Column’s end is a new beginning

In January 2011, this About Townshippers newspaper column from Townshippers’ Association made its first appearance in the Brome County News. Our first column announced the format – “every two weeks”, with “news about our activities and those of our many partners” – and introduced the team working out of our Knowlton office.

Over the years we’ve never had to look too hard to find something to write about; there’s always something going on in our community! Our partners are busy with activities and initiatives, and we have a multitude of everchanging projects on the go of our own.

As the Association’s other communications and outreach methods have grown and changed over our 39 year history, the time has come for us to make adjustments to our weekly column in the Sherbrooke Record as well as our bi-weekly column, which you are reading at the moment; the digital age has forced us to make adjustments that will allow us to continue our community conversations in new and different ways.

While our 227th About Townshippers column is our last, it’s not the last word from Townshippers’.  For now, you can still hear us every Friday at 4 pm on CIDI 99.1FM (repeats on Tuesdays at 10 am), read about our activities on our website Townshippers.org (make use of our free community calendar at Townshippers.org/Calendar), and we’ll still be posting on Facebook.com/Townshippers, and other social media (you can find us @Townshippers on Twitter and Instagram).

Of course, we can always be found out in the community at a number of activities and you can still reach us at our offices in Lac-Brome at 3-584 Knowlton Rd (450-242-4421, toll-free: 1-877-242-4421) or in Sherbrooke at 100 – 257 Queen (819-566-5717, toll-free: 1-866-566-5717).

If you are a member, our Townshippers magazine is still going strong and the latest copy was just sent out. If you are not a member, we’d love to hear from you! Give our Sherbrooke offices a call or signup online at Townshippers.org/Member.

We look forward to seeing you at the newly imagined edition of Townshippers’ Day – rebranded as Festival des Townshippers Festival – on Saturday, September 29, 2018, 10 am to 4 pm, at Richmond Regional High School (details coming soon at TDay.ca).

We’d like to thank our many partners who contributed to this column space over the last seven years, and to the members of our community who followed along. Lastly, we’d like to thank the Brome County News for allowing us to use this space and sharing our news with those in the Brome County region.
