CHOROMONDO WORLD MUSIC WOMEN’S CHOIR @ Haskell Library
Sep 14 2017 @ 7:00 pm – Jun 7 2018 @ 9:00 pm
CHOROMONDO WORLD MUSIC WOMEN'S CHOIR @ Haskell Library | Stanstead | Québec | Canada

CHOROMONDO, founded in 1999 by director, Allyna Harris, is an international world music women’s choir in residence at the Haskell Library and Opera House on the Canada/USA border of Quebec and Vermont.

Rehearsals are weekly September to June, Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 pm.
Director’s fees are paid three times a year and include all materials and a donation to the Haskell Library.

The choir is made of singers from both sides of the border, anglophone and francophone, a community of women from all walks of life who share their joy of singing music from around the world.

Choromondo is a non auditioned group and all women who join are encouraged and supported no matter their level of experience. All songs are taught by singing them and although the ability to read music is an asset, it is not a requirement. Rehearsals early in the season include vocal exercises and vocal play – building stronger singers, confidence and flexibility.

Over the years the choir has sung about 300 songs from more than 50 different countries and music traditions with a special interest in traditional harmonies of the Balkans and South Africa.

Choromondo performs two annual benefit concerts the second weekend in June and has raised over $36,000 for grass roots organizations both at home and abroad.
