Written By & Starring: Trevor McKinven
Trevor McKinven has made his mark as an artist, caricaturist, performer and playwright. Now the North Hatley resident will be acting out for Townshippers’ Association in support of its youth retention programs with a performance of his play “They Came From Away” on Feb 22 in Cowansville.
The one-man show which debuted in the Townships in 2010, imagines a reunion of several participants of the largest slumber and kitchen party of 9/11. With heart-warming humour, McKinven recounts the experiences of four of the 6,500 airline passengers who were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, by the attack on the World Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001. Through a series of monologues, the reunion celebrates the bonds that were formed in tragic circumstances between the “Plane People” and their welcoming hosts during the week long international slumber/kitchen party.
The show will take place on Saturday, February 22 at 8 p.m. at the Théâtre des Tournesols 331 chemin Brosseau, in Cowansville. Doors open at 7 p.m. and a silent auction for several original paintings by Trevor McKinven will take place.
Tickets $20 Adults, $15 Studentswill not be sold at the door.
