SHERBROOKE, November 12, 2015 – Townshippers’ Association, a non-profit community organization serving the English-speaking community of the historical Eastern Townships, invites the public to the annual Open House at the Marguerite Knapp building, in Sherbrooke’s Borough of Lennoxville, on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Get to know your local community organizations! Learn about Townshippers’ community programs, activities and more. Joining us for this event will be the Townshippers Foundation, the Townships Sun, Mental Health Estrie and the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network. Thanks to the generosity of several local businesses, door prizes will also be awarded.

Enjoy light refreshments. Meet staff, directors and volunteers. Tour the building and get a little early shopping in at Townships Expressions, Townshippers’ Association’s boutique of books, music, cards and calendars by local artists or with a Townships theme.

“This year has been a busy one for the Association. The open house is a great opportunity to get to know Townshippers’ home base, discover our activities and see what’s in store for the future,” said Rachel Hunting, Executive Director of Townshippers’ Association. “We’d like to extend a special invitation to anyone who is new to the area to come discover our organization, as well as our colleagues in the building, and get to know their neighbours.“

The event will feature live music by the newest addition to Townships Expressions, Keenan Wilcox. Born and raised in small-town British Colombia ”love and a desire to explore something new“ brought Wilcox to the Townships last fall where the full-time singer-songwriter has been preforming locally and in Montreal.

“Soulful folk, originals, alternative, blues, and country are some of the styles you can expect to hear from me at the Open House on Thursday, November 19th,” said Wilcox, adding that he’ll also have some albums available by donation. “It will be my pleasure to share some beautiful sounds and memories with you; I hope to see you there!”

Everyone is welcome to visit open house at the Marguerite Knapp building, 257 rue Queen, Sherbrooke (Lennoxville), from 5 to 7 on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Doors open at 4:30 for early arrivals. Parking is available behind the building, accessible via Charlotte Street. For more information visit www.Townshippers.org or call 819-566-5717 (toll free 877-566-5717).
