MÉMOIRES ROMANTIQUES DE COATICOOK

Viviane Leblanc
April 23rd to June 11th

Following her stay in Coaticook as the artist in residence, Viviane Leblanc exhibits the work she accomplished from April to July 2015. She was inspired by the landscapes and heritage of the region of Coaticook in order to paint her creations on large formats, and would like to share with the public all the steps she took by displaying drawings and sketches which were required for the production of her paintings.

She uses dry pastel, acrylic, oil and oil sticks on canvases or specialized paper. Her art is mostly figurative and sometimes abstract. Her favorite stage in painting is the development of an idea and the process of creation.

Viviane Leblanc was born in 1956, and comes from Saint-Hubert. She has been living in Magog for more than fifteen years now. After working several years in graphic arts, technical support for clients and administration, Viviane now devotes most of her time to drawing and painting, as well as studies in visual arts.

In 2016 she obtained her bachelor’s degree in fine art from the University of Bishop. Her visits to museums during her many journeys in Europe and in the United States were great inspirations and motivated her to paint diverse topics.

She received a mention of merit in painting at the Brossard Visual Arts Exhibition in 2013. Her painting titled “Histoire d’ados” was selected for the Visa-Art exhibition in 2012. She was recipient of an ELIGF scholarship (in conjunction with Bishop University) of the Eastern Townships Resource Center. This helped her produce the “Romantic Memories” series during her residence in Coaticook in 2015.

These days she gives drawing and painting courses, © “Funny Faces”, to adults and teenagers.

Opening reception will be held on Sunday the 23rd of April at 2p.m.
