Bishop’s University Arts Festival is an idea that came from the need to ensure the longevity of the artistic culture at Bishop’s University. Our mission is to create a window for those outside the arts departments, through which they can observe and witness the artistic process, products, and talents of Bishop’s University.
Bishops University’s first ever Arts Festival was conceived in March 2017, with the idea of uniting the various arts groups – visual arts, music, and drama – at the University and in the Eastern Townships’ community, as well as groups outside of the usual scope of fine arts – film, performing arts, and literature – that play an artistic or creative role in our community. The festival ran its second year in March 2018, and will return for its third edition in January 2019.
Our aim is, and always has been, to raise awareness of the artistic process among the Bishop’s and the Eastern Townships’ community by demonstrating how immersive the art world is, and involving the general public in the different forms of art.
BU Arts Festival takes place on Bishop’s University campus which is located on the Traditional and Unceded Territory of the Abenaki People.
