Richmond County Historical Society invites the public to visit the museum at 1161 Rte. 243, Melbourne Township with special exhibits on the heritage music theme. The museum opened for 8 weeks on June 19 until Aug. 11, Wednesday to Sunday afternoons from 1:00 – 5:00. The second musical entertainment will feature Isabelle Gosselin and take place on Sunday, July 21 at 2 PM.
Isabelle Gosselin has been playing the violin since she was three and a half. Following years of private lessons, she pursued her musical education at McGill University in Montréal and received a bachelor’s degree in violin performance.
As an author, actor, storyteller and violinist, over the past few years, Isabelle has performed shows of her own creation, namely Mon oncle Bébé and Bro and Sister (for all ages) and J’étais là bien avant vous! a tribute to the St. Francis River (for youth). The latter research and creative project, mentored by the Richmond County Historical Society, was awarded funding from the Fonds d’initiatives culturelles du Val St-François as well as a micro-grant from the Community Learning Centre, to enable the translation of her play into English.
As music is always part of her life, the artist also composes the musical works that are interspersed throughout her shows and that she performs on the violin. Isabelle was recently a finalist for the Excellence du Conseil de la Culture de l’Estrie Award, for the excellence of her body of work as an artist.
