Whether you are relocating for work or fresh out of school, seeking a change or deciding where to raise a family, the Estrie is ready to welcome you!
Moving to a new town or province can be exciting but also overwhelming. Make Way for YOUth Estrie (MWFY) can make it easier by providing individual support for eligible soon-to-be or recent residents in the Estrie.
Haven’t yet decided if the Estrie is for you? Experience it for yourself before making the move during one of our free all-inclusive Discovery Days Weekends*.
Located in southeastern Quebec over an hour east of Montreal, with the U.S. border to the south, the Eastern Townships (Estrie) is a place where you’ll find the balance of peaceful surroundings while still maintaining an urban edge. It’s a stunning all season’s playground, with an affordable and relaxed pace of life, nestled among breathtaking landscapes.
It is also home to a vibrant English-speaking community and bilingual opportunities abound. Here you can kick-start a career in a wide range of industries including agriculture, arts, culture, information and technology, education, health care, manufacturing, or start your own business…the possibilities are limitless.
Discover (or re-discover) the Eastern Townships during a Discovery Days event! It’s on us! These free all-inclusive weekends are designed to give you an exciting introduction to the Estrie by providing a chance to explore the work/play balance found in your potential future home.
As your personal guide, Make Way for YOUth’s migration agent plans activities that give you a taste of Estrie life. You’ll discover what it’s like to live, work and play here by taking in local attractions, enjoying seasonal activities and savouring delicious cuisine!
The agent will show you around, share information about incentives and resources, you’ll be introduced to potential business contacts and have a chance to network with community members who will inspire and potentially support you should you decide to make the Townships your home.
If you have lived in the area for less than a year, you can still participate! This is your chance to learn more about your new surroundings and develop your network. The best part, it’s all on us! (Activities, lodging, meals, and transportation are free for eligible* participants.) Discovery Days are usually offered three times a year. To signup or get more info, get in touch with the MWFY migration agent, Beth Vanasse at 819-566-5717, toll-free 1-866-566-5717, or email [email protected]

Offered through Townshippers’ Association since 2006 with funding from the Secrétariat à la jeunesse du Québec, the Make Way for YOUth project provides a unique opportunity for post-secondary students and graduates, 18-35 years of age, to receive help and support when choosing where they wish to settle and begin their careers.
This remarkable project is part of the Place aux jeunes en région initiative to counter youth exodus and encourage qualified young professionals to move to the region. While the Place aux jeunes en région network manages each area by MRC (regional county municipality), Make Way for YOUth covers the entire Estrie region and is the only one in Quebec that specifically targets the English-speaking population.
To qualify for Make Way for YOUth’s activities or services, you must be a post-secondary graduate (or soon-to-be) between 18 and 35 years of age and eligible to work in Canada. Post-secondary education includes any certificate or diploma attained beyond high school including, but not limited to, those issued by vocational schools, community or independent colleges, CEGEP and universities.
