Nominate Your Everyday Heroes

Do you know someone who puts their time and talents to work to make the Eastern Townships English-speaking community better? It could be your child’s sports coach, the chair of your community hospital board, your next door neighbour who delivers meals to shut-ins, a friend or colleague who organizes fundraisers for causes.

Townshippers’ Association is looking to celebrate exceptional citizens who are empowering the English-speaking community, with two awards; Outstanding Townshippers which pays tribute to outstanding contributions, and Young Townships Leaders Award which recognizes youth leadership.

These awards are one way the Association can honour individuals that strengthen the cultural identity of the English-speaking community and encourage its full participation in the community at large.

Nominated by community members, the Outstanding Townshippers Award is presented to individuals, couples or groups from all ages and linguistic backgrounds, who have made a considerable positive impact within the community through volunteerism or philanthropy beyond the usual expectations of their job or profession.

For eligibility requirements and a nomination package, visit Townshippers.qc.ca [Community then Outstanding Townshippers section] or contact Kate Holbrook at [email protected], 450-242-4421 (toll-free 866-242-4421).

The Young Townships Leaders Award (YTLA) encourages English-speaking youth, between the ages of 15 and 35, to reach their full potential and become engaged in the community at large – culturally, socially and economically – by celebrating the young people who serve as role models to other youth as well as adults.

For eligibility criteria and a nomination forms visit Townshippers.qc.ca [Youth then Awards section] or contact Cathy Turner at [email protected], or call 819-566-5717 (toll-free: 1-866-566-5717).

The deadline for nominations for both awards is noon, Friday, August 29, 2014. The awards will be presented at the 35th Townshippers’ Day Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, September 13, 2014, in Coaticook [visit www.TDay.ca for details]. This is no admission fee to Townshippers’ Day; however, visitors are encouraged to support this family-friendly, non-profit event with minimum $2 donation.
