Townshippers’ Association simplifies Canada 150 eBook submissions process

Get published and celebrate the Eastern Townships chapter in Canada’s 150-year story!

SHERBROOKE, January 26, 2017 – Townshippers’ Association has extended the deadline to Our Stories, an ebook project on the Eastern Townships experience in Canada’s history, to March 1, 2017. In addition to giving the community nearly one extra month to submit their entry, the digital storytelling project is now accepting all submissions, including those previously published.

Held in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, Townshippers’ Association, with the support of the Government of Canada, launched the Our Stories project last autumn, with the intent of showcasing the Eastern Townships, its people, and its stories, through a full-colour ebook in summer 2017.

By extending the deadline and lifting the restriction limiting all entries to unpublished materials, Townshippers’ and the editorial team are simplifying the submission process. Previously published materials must include an acknowledgment of the source where they appeared. Authors are responsible for seeking any necessary permission.

Anyone with ties to the Eastern Townships is invited to submit up to three entries of various written materials, illustrations, photos, and/or titles for the ebook, provided they relate to at least one of the following themes:

  • the historical roots of our region
  • the experience of settlers in our region
  • our community’s role in shaping the nation
  • contributions made by individuals and our community to both the province and the country.

In addition to publication, selected contributors will receive a free copy of the ebook and an honorarium.

The Our Stories project also includes a series of free writing workshops offered across the region in English. Focused on a variety of themes, the workshops will help established and new writers to hone their craft or polish up their ebook submission. The workshop schedule can be viewed at www.Townshippers.org/Canada150 or in the events section at www.Facebook.com/Townshippers.

Additional details and online submission, are available on www.Townshippers.org/Canada150. If you have further questions, contact Townshippers’ Association at 819-566-5717 (toll free: 1-866-566-5717).
