2017 Student Essay Challenge Deadline Extended

SHERBROOKE, April 13, 2017 – Townshippers’ Association’s Make Way for YOUth Estrie project has announced that the submissions deadline for entries to the 2017 Excel in the Estrie essay challenge has been extended to Sunday, April 30. The essay challenge is open to graduating high school seniors in the Eastern Townships English-speaking community.

In an effort to celebrate their successes and inspire others, the challenge invites graduating high school seniors to submit a 500-word essay – about the size of a letter or an email – explaining why they believe they have and will Excel in the Estrie by overcoming obstacles and planning for their future. Winning essays will be published in Townshippers’ magazine and their authors will take home up to $500.

Entries will be judged on the writer’s ability to answer the two parts of the essay – Identifying any academic, social or personal obstacles they faced on their way to graduation and what they did to overcome them, imagining what their future will look like, five years from now, living and working in the Townships- in a creative and original way.

To enter online visit www.Townshippers.org/Essay. Entries are also accepted by email at [email protected] but must include the submissions form which can be downloaded or submitted online at www.Townshippers.org/Essay.

The 2017 essay challenge is made possible through the collaboration with the Lennoxville Youth Center, Global Excel Management, and with the participation of the Government of Canada.
