About this Event:

The AGM  is your chance to see your association at work for you. Members of the Association, stakeholders and the community, will have the chance to review the non-profit community organization’s activities over the past year. This year’s AGM features a showcase of new and dynamic employability tools for community members, the 2017 Excel in the Estrie essay winners will be awarded their prize, and we’ll celebrate the launch of Our Stories: The Eastern Townships’ chapter in Canada’s 150-year story anthology. Our Stories project volunteers and anthology contributors will be on hand to highlight the literary and visual arts talents of our beautiful Eastern Townships. Light refreshments will be served. Cash bar.

One member, one vote

Once again members will have the opportunity to vote on governance items and candidates running for election.

Annual report

Each year, the association releases its annual report. It contains a message from the president and the executive director as well as the association’s financial statements and a list of the year’s accomplishments and the partners who helped to make it happen. The 2016-2017 Annual Report will be available to members at the meeting and will be posted online at www.Townshippers.org/Publications the following week.

Awards

Each year Make Way For YOUth Estrie, a project from Townshippers’ Association, hosts an essay challenge asking high school seniors to share stories about overcoming the challenges – academic, social or personal – on their path to educational success and how they see themselves living and working in the Townships in five years from now. The Excel in the Estrie! challenge is launched alongside the regional Hooked on School Week (Feb 13 to 17). The writers of the 500-600 word essays will be celebrated at the AGM and their works will be published in a future issue of Townshippers magazine. Thanks to the support of our partners – the Lennoxville Youth Center, Global Excel, and with the support of the government of Canada – the writers will also take home up to $500.
