Changes to the Townshippers’ team

It’s hard to believe nine months have gone by already, but Townshippers’ Association is very happy to announce that Maggie Severs is back from maternity leave! Maggie is resuming her role as our Eastern Townships Partners for Health and Social Services agent and will be overseeing activities and projects that help inform and engage our community. Welcome back, Maggie!

We’re also excited to announce that Emily Prangley Desormeaux, who replaced Maggie during her leave, will be joining the Townshippers’ team as a permanent fixture as she takes over as our Community and Culture Coordinator. We know she’ll do a great job.

If Emily’s new title sounds familiar it’s because it’s a role that has been occupied for several years by the enthusiastic and talented Kate (Wisdom) Holbrook. With regret, we announce that it’s time to goodbye to Kate who is retiring to somewhat leisurely life after nearly 19 years working for the Association.

Kate has worked hard to promote the Eastern Townships arts and culture, and her name is synonymous with Townshippers’ Day, a festival she’s played a vital role in organizing alongside 15 organizing committees and countless volunteers since 2002.

Kate also helped found the English-language Arts Network (ELAN) in 2004 and, since 2015, has been involved in its annual Arts Alive! Quebec, a province-wide cultural festival featuring Quebec artists in six different regions. But her involvement in the arts goes well beyond her position with Townshippers’.

As a dedicated arts professional with costuming, direction, production, and performing credits, Kate has been involved in many organizations and productions over the years, including the Knowlton Players, and Sunshine Theatre Productions, a theatre troupe she helped to create.

Kate’s list of accomplishments too great to list – among them Brome-Missisquoi CLD’s Social Economy Committee, CIDI, the Knowlton Literary Festival – but through them all she’s made an impact on our community’s arts scene. It’s been a great pleasure to work with Kate’s sweet disposition and sparkling personality for so long. We are sure you’ll join us in wishing her an adventurous retirement!
