Health & Wellness Fair for the English-speaking community on June 10, 2017

LAC BROME, May 22, 2017 – A network of regional health and social service organizations are joining forces to launch a new Health & Wellness Fair that will connect the English-speaking communities of Brome-Missisquoi, Haute-Yamaska and their surrounding areas, with information on available services in the region, as well as knowledge on a variety of health and wellness issues.

Under the theme Healthy People, Healthy Communities, the community is invited to the Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 10, at the Centre Lac-Brome, 270 Rue Victoria, Knowlton.

The fair, which is free and open to the public from 10:00am to 3:00pm, will feature three presentations by health professionals. The program includes two keynote speakers – Dr. Robert Pincott who will share information on what’s new at the Brome Missisquoi Perkins Hospital, and Dr. Camillo Zacchia, senior advisor at the Montreal’s Douglas Hospital, with a focus on mental health issues – and one videoconference on Ticks and Lyme Disease with Dr. Kadeja Lefebvre.

Visitors will also find kiosks on available services in the region, and information on a variety of health and wellness issues, with materials in both English and French. Free childcare will be provided for attendees and light lunches can be purchased onsite.

This event is the first of its kind to be organized by the Steering Committee of the Eastern Townships Partners for Health and Social Services, Montérégie-East network, which brings together several organizations across the region, including Townshippers’ Association, Avante Women’s Centre, Yamaska Literacy Council, CIUSSS de l’Estrie Adaptation Program, CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS, the BMP Users’ Committee, and The Mental Health and Well-being Support Group in Brome Lake.

This initiative is funded by Health Canada through the Roadmap for Canada’s Official Languages 2013-2018: Education, Immigration, Communities.

For further information about this event, visit www.Townshippers.org/HealthFair2017 or contact Townshippers’ Association’s office in Lac Brome at 450-242-4421.
