2018 Community Awards Nominations Now Open
Awards Recognize Dedication and Excellence in the Eastern Townships English-speaking Community
SHERBROOKE, March 15, 2018 – Townshippers’ Association needs your help in nominating deserving individuals for the 2018 Outstanding Townshippers and the Young Townships Leader Award. If you know of someone who is truly outstanding, who has generously support local needs, has made a significant impact on others, and/or tirelessly gives of their time, talents and resources, please consider nominating them for either of these two community awards by Friday, May 18.
The annual awards were created by Townshippers’ to honour those who are working to make the Eastern Townships English-speaking community better through volunteerism and personal contribution while inspiring others to give back to our community. Anyone may nominate a person or group who is helping others and strengthening our community.
“These awards celebrate the dedicated and inspiring people who make helping others and building a strong community an important part of their lives,” said Townshippers’ Executive Director Rachel Hunting. “These are the people we admire and count on to always pitch in and this is your chance to show them how valued they are.”
Townshippers’ is excited to announce that starting this year nominations will remain open year-round. Nominations received this year after May 18, will automatically be applied to the following year. The 19th OT and 14th YTLA will be presented at Townshippers’ annual general meeting on June 8, after which the awards will adopt a new annual deadline on the last business day of April.
The OT award is given to individuals and groups who have generously given of themselves, beyond the usual expectations of their job or profession, through volunteering, social activism, mentoring, or philanthropy, to make their community a better place to live, work and raise a family. Current or former community members are considered provided their contributions benefit the region’s English-speaking community. Winners of this award are recognized at the awards event and featured in Townshippers magazine.
