Description

This book is a compendium of candid recollections  of a unique Eastern Townships instuon and of the remarkable couple, Ken and Susie Fraser, who birthed it during the Great Depression and nourished it for more than 60 years. Cookshire’s Dew Drop Inn was many businesses under one roof – country inn, general store, restaurant, gas station, taxi, beauty parlour, gift shop and sign painting. But more than anything, it was the town’s main anglophone gathering place where townsfolk came to learn the latest news, to hear Ken’s stories or to admire Susie’s latest handiwork. Although the Dew Drop Inn has long since le! the local landscape, a multitude of memories remain. “. . . a most interesting and touching story of Ken and Susie Fraser and their Dew Drop Inn that they shared with so many. Thanks for the memories and the
laughter – a delightful book that I will pick up again and again.” (Sharon Moore, President, Compton County Historical Museum Society)
“I congratulate Winston Fraser on his prodigious efforts to research and compile all the information, memorabilia and quotes about the Dew Drop Inn. Townsfolk and family will be grateful for his preserving this precious collection of memories.” (Shirley Nadeau, Copy Editor, Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph) “Dew Drop Inn offers the reader a nostalgic look back to the simpler mes of a bygone era. . . In this book Winston Fraser provides a richly-illustrated snapshot of the daily happenings in a quaint country inn / general store that sadly is no
more.” (Bill Ivy, author and photographer) A computer consultant by profession, Winston Fraser is a widely published photographer and writer. A book of his photographs, Historic Sites of Canada, was published by Bramley Books and distributed by Coles bookstores. He was
also the major supplier of photographs for National Geographic’s Canada Travel Guide. Most recently he has self published
Endangered Species of Country Life, a nostalgic look back, and OHIXIHO, a biography of Cookshire’s Charles Clark Fraser. He also
edited Maggie’s Memories, his late wife’s childhood recollections. Winston is a nephew of Ken and Susie Fraser.
