Free Income Tax Clinic

NEWS 2018: Townshippers’ Association’s long-running free income tax filing clinic is moving!

Townshippers’ is handing over our busy annual tax clinic to the very capable hands of the Literacy in Action team. Starting March 12, 2018, the Sherbrooke based not-for-profit organization will help taxpayers with a modest income and a simple tax situation to file their returns.

Townshippers’ began offering the clinic in 2005, originally assisting 45 clients. By the 2016 tax season, we were helping over 300 clients. Townshippers’ has the community at its heart which is why we work to develop projects that meet the needs of our community. Handing over a successful project to a partner helps stimulate community development. We know this clinic will be in good hands with the team at Literacy in Action!

Literacy in Action functions as a network for inter-professional collaboration to foster a community of learners throughout the Estrie region. It is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization providing tutors and parents literacy-related resources and training. Their mandate is to create learning opportunities for English speakers by offering free, one-to-one tutoring for adults (16 years and older) and community-based activities for everyone.
