It’s that time of year again…time to share our good fortune with those among us who aren’t so blessed. For the 12th year, the Yamaska Valley Optimist Club is looking for a few good angels to help make the season a little brighter through the Christmas Angels project.
How does it work?
In conjunction with local schools and la Cellule Jeunesse, the Club, compiles a list of recipients who are in need this holiday season. This list contains specific information on each recipient, such as age, size, and gender, etc. The information is then transferred onto paper angels, which are then distributed to participating retail locations. Anyone interested in being a Christmas Angel can visit these retailers, select a paper angel and, using the information provided; purchase a gift.
After wrapping the gift and attaching the paper angel, Christmas Angels are asked return their gift to the retailer where they chose their paper angel by December 6. The YVO then distributes the gifts before Christmas. This year 180 wishes are waiting to be filled.
Paper angels can be picked up at participating retailers in Cowansville at Nettoyeur Houle, 101 Oliver Street; Magasin Tigre Geant, 179 Principale Street; in Knowlton at La Vie Sucree, 29 Lakeside; Barnes General Store, 39 Victoria; De la Ferme a la Table – 605-101 Knowlton Road; at in Sutton at Pharmacie Brunet , 25 Principale N.
