English-speaking Community Representatives Appointed to CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS Board

SHERBROOKE, October 1, 2015 – Townshippers’ Association is pleased to announce the appointment of  President Gerald Cutting and Executive Director Rachel Hunting to the newly created administrative council of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) de l’Estrie – Université de Sherbrooke by Minister of Health and Social Services, Mr. Gaétan Barrette.

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to join to the 19 members of the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS board and welcome this new commitment and the challenges it will bring with it,” said Ms. Hunting. “Since Townshippers’ Association’s territory now aligns with that of the new CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS structure’s territory, we are in an excellent position to make sure that the needs of the English-speaking community are on the radar of health and social services providers. We very pleased that the representation of our community was taken into account by those who were tasked with the creation of this board.”

The board was created in accordance with the law amending the organization and governance of health and social services system, which abolished regional agencies.

Comprised of community members and members representing the university hospital, the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS board is tasked with pooling their skills, expertise and experience during their three-year mandate to ensuring the accessibility and quality of care and services provided. Mr. Cutting’s role will be focused on auditing, performance or quality management competency and Ms. Hunting will provide community organization expertise.
