Summer is just around the corner and for Townshippers’ Association. That means we’re starting the countdown for the 33rd annual Townshippers’ Day!

Each year up to 8,000 visitors gather for this one-day festival showcasing the culture, creativity and friendship of the Eastern Townships English-speaking community. For many it’s a time to catch up with old friends, make new ones and celebrate what it means to be a Townshipper, whether your roots stretch back to the earlier settlers or were planed recently.

Townshippers’ Day – scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2012 – also provides an opportunity to get to know the host town that helps to organize the big day. This year, for the first time ever, T-Day will take place in the historical town of Farnham!

Under the theme Farnham: The Past, The Present and The Future, visitors will enjoy entertainment, artisans, information and other exhibitors, food and activities for all ages while musicians, performers, artists, historical groups, industry and organizations in and around Farnham, will have a chance to introduce themselves to the larger community.

A lot of work has already started behind the scenes in preparation for T-Day and we’re working on launching a fresh new website very soon. But in the meantime we’re inviting community services and organisations, entertainers, artists and artisans and local businesses to get in on the festivities and show their support for our English-speaking community by participating in this popular community event.

For Townshippers’ Day 2012, why not join us as an exhibitor, a food vendor or as an entertainer!

Crafters or artisans in the Farnham area looking to get more visibility for their work should consider registering as an exhibitor. You’ll be provided with a table in the exhibits area at T-Day and will find yourself keeping company with some of the best artisans from the Eastern Townships. Community organizations, in fields ranging from health services to cultural events, can also be present in the exhibits area to offer the crowds a variety of activities or displays about their services.

The exhibition area will welcome local historical societies from across the Townships that wish to share their heritage displays with visitors. Other individuals and groups can also get involved in the event by participating as business organizations or educational institutions in the Townshippers’ at Work section.

Non-profit organizations or service groups that have experience organizing lunches or suppers are welcome to register to provide food services at T-Day as a fundraiser for your organization.

The T-Day food vendors provide the crowds with picnic lunches, hot and cold food, as well as a variety of healthy and ethnic foods, throughout the day. With thousands of visitors on site, the day can certainly make for a profitable fundraising venture!

Since we at Townshippers’ Association particularly like to showcase and encourage environmentally-friendly businesses and procedures, we strive to make sure that T-Day is a green event. Since 2005, all T-Day garbage has been sorted and recycled or composted. Our food vendors always take part in this inspiring initiative by agreeing to use green products and to minimize garbage during the day.

Do you sing, dance or a have a great act you’d like to share with the community? Then we want to hear from you!

Townshippers’ Day has long been known as a place to showcase Townships talent and, as always, we are looking for all types of entertainment, from choirs to dance troupes and a variety of other performances, to entertain the crowds. You’ll also have the chance to showcase your talent to new audiences, and sell a few CDs on the side!

Since our main objective is to promote local entertainment, particularly entertainers from within the English-speaking community, we ask that performers come from (or be residents of) the Eastern Townships. Special priority will be given to entertainers from the local area where T-Day is taking place.

For exhibitors and food vendors, registration fees vary according to the nature of the exhibit and the space required. Discounts are offered for early bird registrations.
