Moving Forward – Townshippers’ Association Makes
Recommendations Re: Bill 10
SHERBROOKE, October 30, 2014 – Townshippers’ Association has filed a formal proposal outlining recommendations for the modification of Bill 10 with the office of Quebec’s Minister of Health.
The recommendations for modifications to Bill 10: An Act to modify the organization and governance of the health and social services network, in particular by abolishing the regional agencies brought forth by Townshippers’ Association focus on protecting the representation of the English-speaking community in a new structure of governance for the health and social services sector and were outlined per region covered by the Association, speaking to the particular needs and service usage patterns of the English-speaking minority population in particular areas. A recommendation concerning user committees was also presented.
Townshippers’ Association maintains its opinion that the reduction or removal of the English-speaking community’s role in the governance of such fundamental institutions will be to the detriment of the vitality and identity of its community.
