Picnic in the Park Packed for 2012!

It was the popular demand that brought the Picnic in the Park 50+ back to Cowansville’s Davignon Park and with record numbers in attendance, this years event was one to remember!  Close to 400 people had a great time last August 22 enjoying the gorgeous weather, resources from nearly thirty community organization information tables, entertainment and activities highlighting creative ways to keep physically and psychologically fit under the events “Aging Creatively” theme.

Along with live music throughout the day, participants also enjoyed art therapy, a Geriacirque workshop, a delicious and healthy buffet from Buffet Cowansville, ice cream from Laiterie Chagnon, and local corn on the cob and melons!

New to this year’s picnic was a delicious contest to find the Golden Cookie of 2012! Judges had the arduous task of tasting and rating the nine different cookies entered into the contest. After weighing the cookies appearance, taste, nutritious value, ease of preparation and the cost to prepare, creative cookie medals were awarded to Anne Emma Lisotte (Bronze), Marie-José Mauriange (Silver) and Claire Ferland Roy (Gold). Congratulations to the winners!

If you missed out on the fun this year, no worries! Keep following our column for news about next year’s event with its new theme and activities.
